In the BT settings on your phone, you can have several audio output options depending on the connected device, like phone calls and media-audio. Are both set?
I found 2 small French translation issues in the POI list: in travel and accommodation, the parking garage should be translated as Parking couvert and Travel agency, as Agence de voyage (and not agance)
I guess it is since version 7.x, that Navigator even kills my internet radio sound coming over bluetooth.
Over the weekend I missed any sound at all in my car, when I tried to listen to radio and Navigator instructions. It did work a week before with the bluetooth unit in my Renault Grand Scenic 3 from 2010 called my_Radiosat.
Yesterday I started with my bluetooth headset in my helmet driving my scooter with no sound at all. On the way back I started with the internet radio and could listen to it. When I "added" Navigator, even the internet radio sound stopped. This worked together two weeks before.
I have a Sony Xperia X compact, Android 8.0.0.
Bluetooth settings are set to call-audio and media-audio for both bluetooth devices in the phone.
Off course I do not want to force sound output the phone speaker, I would rather change the navigation software.
The bluetooth worked well for me with 6.0 but after update to 7.0.49 I have the same problem like @chattiewoman and no phone settings can fix the issue.
It works only when I select on the autoradio "media" (A2DP bluetooth) but then I hear no radio at all. I use now "force phone speaker to play sounds" which is the only option which works for me together with radio. However the volume buttons do not work when the bluetooth is connected.
Twice yesterday driving my car. I listen to internet radio coming from my Xperia phone via bluetooth to the car unit. Starting Navigator mutes the radio. No sound either from the internet radio nor from Navigator until Navigator is finished and the car unit is switched off and on again or the phone is restarted.
That is not a navigation software, that is usefull for me.
Oldie: please try both version above if it gets better or not. Once again - I have tried with BT speakers supporting both A2DP and HFP and it works. Unfortunately I do not have a car equipped with BT at the moment, so my testing abilities are limited.
I tested both APKs and both are using A2DP. The autoradio I am using works only with SCO (=simulating a phone call for every navigation message).
I implemented SCO back in 2015 (Navigator 2.2), I tested it on a device in MF office called "jukebox" (there I opened radio, paired phone over BT and check if the navigation message interrupts the radio). Hopefully this helps.
Now it opens SCO connection since Navigator beginning. That's wrong, that mutes the radio as long as Navigator is opened (it should be opened only for navigation messages. The navigation messages comes with about 10s delay.
I checked "Use Bluetooth handsfree channel for voice navigation".
It said half a word from my phone speaker then opened Bluetooth channel, navigation froze for a few seconds. Then it said message over BT and never again closed the Bluetooth channel, also no radio resumed. Navigation freezing repeated with almost every voice command.
Would it be possible to restore SoundsPlayer.java and SoundChannelDlg.java from previous version?
Lubos: Restoring is not possible. Android Auto extension is not compatible with earlier solution and customers used to complain about it. SoundsPlayer had to be refactored completely to fit the latest Android API. I will review the code regarding the SCO connection, but I can honestly say it is not the cleanest solution I have ever read. On the other hand, I see that many customers get used to this feature since Navigator is probably the only navigation software supporting sending voice commands over SCO.
I see @filips, thanks. I was tunning the BT functionality back in 2015 for many months. The SCO is very complex and to make it working without testing device is almost impossible.
However I downgraded my Navigator to version 5.5.105 and now I am happy :-)
@MacDony We are discussing this the last days, see above. Go back to version 46 and it will work again ;-) . It really seems to be a major issue, maybe just for people, who don't use Android Auto.
Thanks Oldie, I find it where the version that works correctly? I will go back to the AA version when the issue is resolved as I also use AA in the car. ;)
It was 7.0.46, that worked for me. Unfortunately I only today disabled automatic updates in playstore, but just noticed, that it had updated to 49 already. But I still have the 46 apk (downloaded a couple of days ago from the apkcure website) on my phone. It does not install "over" the 49 version so I have to delete 49 and start with 46 from scratch (because that is easier for me than securing all the files to somewhere else and copying back).
About the import GPX: it could be language setting.
If I have my phone in Czech then converting number to string uses "." as decimal separator. If I have my phone in German then converting number to string uses "," as decimal separator and some apps stop working correctly.
I've tested the restored SCO setting in v7.0.55 in my car with the radio turned on.
Simulation mode:
On instructions/warning, the radio is interrupted (like it should), but the first about 2 seconds, the sound is played on my phone, the rest is played over Bluetooth by my car.
Navigation mode: On instructions/warning, the radio is interrupted, but the sound is always played on the phone, not by my car.
I just wanted to tell, that I am now on version 7.0.55 and the sound problem, which existed in version 49 (see above) has been solved. Thank you very much.
