I drove the indicated street (Hiddeser Straße) from west to east: http://www.openstreetmap.org/#map=19/51.94231/8.83827 Befor reaching the curve, the app said "turn right" - but why? (The route was shown correctly, it's just the instruction I am wondering about)
I ran the route simulation and experimented with different starting points before the curve, in the curve before the footway and shortly after. According to the display of the meters at which the turn should take place, it seems that not "Am Heidenbach" is causing the turn instruction, but the path running left directly before the bridge. I am using the car profile.
No matter which one actually is causing this issue: Following the main street, there should not be any turn right instruction as we drive straight forward.
Following the main street, there should not be any turn right instruction as we drive straight forward. Yes, but it is not always clear that it is the "main street". I did not find tag for "main and side street" two years (?) ago, but maybe that changed (I am speaking about "right of way"). As far as I know Navigation combines the turn angle, levels of streets in that area and sharper the curve the more probable is the turn message even for crossing with smaller streets.
I know what you are pointing at: there are sometimes crossings where the major road turns. Here is a sign for that: link. I totally agree in this case: when I want to follow the major road, I must turn.
My case in the initial post is different:
IN the curve, there is no crossing.
Right AFTER the curve, there are only two concurrent streets to the left, which are tagged with highway=path and highway=living_street. The road I am coming from is highway=secondary, and I am using a car profile.
So there is no reason to declare following the street as a turn to the right.
In my image the road is as straight as you can imagine. If you would follow the command "turn left" you would crash in to guard rails. I checked OSM Data with IDEditor an JOSM and did not find anything, what data could cause the Mapfactor command.
Ok, for my example the problem has gone for the Android version. The image above is PC Navigator, did not check that because there is obviously no update yet.
Time to reheat my old thread 8-) Same junction as in my initial post, but this time I drove from east to west (of course running the latest app and maps version), I only followed the Hiddeser Straße, but in the curve, Navigator instructed to "turn left".
@MapFactor This is something the algorithm should handle correctly. Please reconsider ist.
Had a similar event yesterday in Herzberg am Harz (coming from Göttingen on B27) where I had to "Turn Right" and there is no exit to the right. Probably it means just "Don't turn left!". I had some more wrong voice indications during my trip. It seems that the last version of MF has deteriorated.
