PC Navigator 14 Free won't connect with my PC's USB GPS

PC Navigator finds the correct com port and baud rate of my pc's usb gps but refuses to "connect" with the device. How to fix?

and are you sure that both com port and baud rate are correct?
which GPS is it?

I have the same problem - USB GPS is not recognized.I'm running Windows 8.1 on the machine. There are no classical serial ports. So, baud rate, etc. is not applicable.Other applications see the GPS just fine.
