To make following routes easier?

It would be nice if someone could reverse the way directions are given ie:
"in 500 yards turn right" rather than "turn right........ in 500 yards"
in town I tend to pick up on the "turn right" and sometimes either turn right too early or miss the junction as I am waiting for the distance.

I agree with BigAl. There is a pause between "turn right" and the distance to be announced or not. You are wondering whether it is time to turn now or some distance to come. It can be confusing.
