For an upcoming 6-week trip, I have created 45 .mca files of various POI items using diggerQT. When I import them into MPN Free (Android), not all of them show up in the POI listing. By removing some POI files, some files that previously did not show in the POI listing do then appear.
Is there a limit to the number of POI files that can be imported into MPN Free?
I could reduce the number of POI files by combining several files. For example, supermarkets are in separate files to have the appropriate icon show up for each supermarket chain. While one can have different icons for individual POIs in one .mca file, one can change the icon for a POI point only individually in diggerQT. That is very tedious and time consuming to do for a file that contains several hundred POIs.
Is there a way to change the icon for POI points as a group in diggerQT or by some other method?
I'll try 32. That makes sense from a power of 2 perspective.
When I import an .mca on my phone or tablet, I don't see a way to select an icon. I am only able to select a file and then it is imported. Perhaps you are talking about within diggerQT?
I see that for diggerQTn in the 'Object appearance assignment', there is a radio button for 'multiple objects determined by data of column'. If I select that and then use the name as the condition value, I can assign a different icon to the different names. Unless I select an icon for every single row, the 'Next' button is grayed out and I cannot proceed from there. Selecting an icon for the default does not translate to the other rows. Selecting an icon with the 'single object for all records' option and then switching to the multiple objects option results in everything reverting back to the default ? icon and the 'Next' button is greyed out. There doesn't seem to be a way to select several rows at once to change the icon.
The POI files from POIbase contain names that vary slightly within a single file. That creates many rows in diggerQT. I'm finding that using an editor application to make the names the same within the .gpx file results in errors about a bad UTF8 at some spot in the file. Doesn't seem to matter whether it's Word, Wordpad or something else.
Not yet finding a convenient way to create an .mca file consisting of combined gpx files and having different icons within.
