setup utility 18.1.0

    Hello,

    when I installed the new Setup Utility 18.1.0 and I clicked "Early Maps Access"
    then the Setup will install a new Version 18.1.4
    During installing I got an error Message "the Setup.dat ist not RAR file"
    the next Messages "Unable to copy new files. Running the old Setup Version"

    Additionally when I try to install the WINCE application with Setup Utility 18.1.0 on a SD card it finishes immediately with message "Operation finished", but does nothing

    I had no problems. Install of WINCE-Version on local medium and PC-Version was possible. I did'nt do the update of the Setup Utility within the Setup Utility instead download the new version and install it in the folder of the old version.

    Version 18.1.0 works fine, but when I clicked "Early Maps Access"

    Ok, when I unclick "Early Map Access" I too can install the WINCE Version on a local medium. but it is still version 17.1.6.1.
    The PC version however is 18.1.4
    Setup version stays 18.1.0.
    If click "Early ...." then see above

    Ik have the same problem. Unable to use navigation now.
    Tried to manually extract the rar file to my SD card bit that doesn't work.
    Is anyone working on this issue? Or anyone know a solution?
    Maybe a download of an older version of the install assistant?

    I just installed Setup utilities 18.1.0 and then both PC Navigator 18 and Mapexplorer 18
    I also downloaded free maps and then installed them to memory card without any problem

    files are not supposed to extract, just copy

    - Formatted SD card,
    - Installed Map Explorer
    - Installed PC Explorer

    After that the installation of the WinCE version to SD card was succesful

    Same here,

    17.1.6 was still starting.
    18.1.5 doesn't.
    It seems to request other or more .dll's which version 17 didn't need.
    Haven't found out yet which ones.
    So back to 17.x

    So like  @Oldie mentioned in another thread WINCE and the MF WINCE version gets more and more useless.
    Another flaw is that TMC is useless because the location data tables are since a while no longer present or incorrect.
    Or the option "Do not turn maps" is still not persistant.

    Same here. I had V17 installed, and obviously it installed 18.1.0 FREE automatically. First I got the same "RAR" error, now this one is gone but it again and again wants to install the update to 18.1.5. But this is a never ending loop.

    The current map updates are even visible in the list but at the top of the list there is always the installer update, so I cannot load map updates anymore (which is the only function I use).

    Setup wizard/WinCE v18.1.7 is available, test and report back, installing it now
    setup wizard update loop is fixed, not sure about wince yet because wince navigator free v18.1.5 was unable to launch in wince6.0 car headunit (v17 was ok)

    I checked v18.1.7 with "Dependecy Walker" and like I suspected above it requires on my device (MEDION P4445, WINCE 5.5, fresh install, no update) 2 more .dlls which weren't needed before: aygshell.dll and cellcore.dll.
    Added them and then at least navigator started, let me select language and voice, showed the splashscreen and the welcome and the worldmap.
    Then depending on what I did, zooming in, searching a place etc it crashed.

    Same here - 17.1.6 was fine. 
    Today, after update to 18.1.7 fails to launch in WIN CE device. Fresh installation to clean directory does not help...

    Interesting:
    " AYGSHELL.DLL is only part of Windows Mobile/Embedded Handheld/PocketPC but NOT on any Windows CE device."

    Did some testing today and I cannot confirm that this version for me is any better.

    I add log endings of 4 trials to get into WINCE 5.5-Navigator 18.1.8, all failed.
    The complete logs are available if necessary.

    Same configuration has been running since version,11 at least, maybe older.

    Trying to use the configuration files of version 16 and 17 result in a pink unreadable screen.

    I can confirm that WinCE version 18.1.8  starts up properly, but the settings are not persistent (after reboot asks for language and so on).

    Clean installation did not help. BUT i found this interesting log entries:

    IDC file: \Storage Card\NAVI\atlas_free.idc
    Trying to load \ResidentFlash\pn18\settings.xml
    \ResidentFlash\pn18\settings.xml loaded and initialized

    Seems that settings were stored in car navigation system, since sd card path is \Storage Card\NAVI\

    Cannot get to this location from car UI, so cannot clear the settings.
