Hi, is there somebody who is successful for installation of Navigator Free 14? I tried to install Navigator Free 14 on Win8.1, many times. But I could not. What files should be installed? What folders should have those files?

I installed the program from http://navigatorfree.mapfactor.com/en/download/.

1. I selected the folder name "14.1" under folder "Navigator".

2. Then, I click "Install application" Next, I click "Install PC Navigator".

3. I got four icons for the program, then I click "Manage map downloads". I specified map "Taiwan OSM" and language "English (US)".

4. After completion, I opened "PC Navigator 14 FREE (default settings). The error comes up "Stting files not found. Application will exit now"

Please tell me what is wrong regarding my operations.

Hi, thank for your advice. I tried to send E-mail through Setup utilities, but failed. Error "No installations found!" comes up when I click "Send error report", then I click "OK", E-mail box comes up. After writing problems, click "SEND", another error "Error ocured while compressing configuration files" comes up.

My setup log is the below;

I think that map files should be in folder C:\ProgramData\Navigator\14.1\data\

I deleted all data related Navigator, then installed again. But the same error, "Setting files not found. Application will exit now". I checked folders and files data. Navigator Free 14.1.2-1 works successfully? Or it doesn't work on Win8.1 Japanese version? Because Japanese version has Japanese character folders? Setup Utility log "trayutil" is the below.There is something wrong? " \Users\??\AppData\"\??\ folder name is Japanese character. I can not use Japanese character name Folder? Should I change to English name?

Hi, I changed folder name to English, but still same error. I checked setup log just after setting op.
There are some errors.
In setup log;

Hi!
Try check Your hardware - there are many free programs for diagnostic (I think everythink is ok).
2. Run setup and/or Navigator in admin mode.
3. Disable for a while antyvir, sometimes they block too much.
4. What do You think about Windows10? At the beginning install english version and after positive navigator test add Your language (hope it is possible).
5. Download setup navigator from mapfactor pages /via stable connection/, check and delete navigator_installation file in folder ...navigator...install.
6. Install Navigator PC once again /for Navigator15 with 'early map access'/.

...and now???

I followed the instruction 1.-6. except for Windows 10. I have only Win8.1.

The result was the same. "Setting files not found. Application will exit now".

Is that right? My download result, there are two folders, 15.0 and x.y, under c:\Users\"user"\AppData\Roaming\Navigator.

"setup" log file is in 15.0 folder, and two log files, "launcher", "trayuti" are in x.y folder.

I could not find "14.x" folder and "settings.xml".

I can not find "14.x" folder and "settings.xml", anywhere in c:\Users\.

Why not???

if you have version 15, then path would be c:\Users\"user"\AppData\Roaming\Navigator\15.x\settings.xml

Hi! I searched "c:\Users\"user"\AppData\Roaming\Navigator\15.0\settings.xml" , there is only "setup" log file in folder "15.0". Others are nothing.

"dafault_settings.veh", "settings.dtd" are in "c:\Program Files\Navigator15\PC_Navigator\config".

I searched "settings.xml" all over in PC, but there is nothing.

If "settings.xml" was not downloaded, the setup log say something like ERR or other messages?

I checked the setup log, but I could not find the word "settings.xml".

Please tell me the possible reason why I can not download "settings.xml".

settings.xml is created when you start Navigator for the first time, it is a copy of default_settings.xml
may be you have no rights to create files in this folder?
try to run Navigator as administrator

or, you could copy default_settings.xml and rename it

7. try open installation file on another computer (setup_pc_navigator.exe in folder c:/programdata/navigator/x.y/install) and run Navigator Free (from pulpit).

8. clean registry (free registry cleaner) and run antyvir.
9. create new user and run installation on this new account (only for test).
10. I don't know, but I think about it.

if you do not have default_settings.xml, then installation went wrong
you will need to uninstall everything and delete folders mentioned above
then start again

I have never seen "default_settings.xml" before. Every time I deleted and uninstall every data related Navigator, then do setup and run program. My installation and setup sequence might be wrong.

So please let me know what my actions is wrong shown the below;

1) Click "Download Setup Utility for windows"

2) run "NavigatorFree_install" as administrator.

3) Select "English" as Setup Language

4) start "Setup Utility Setup Wizard", click "install" at the end.

5) Enter product key appears, then select "Use free key", RUFKP-FQWDG-HTP3Q-SVURT-P3QWZ

6) "please select the path where downloadable will be stored" window comes up, folder "15.0" is highlighted. Then click "OK"

7) setup windows comes up, then click "Settings", select "Early maps access", then click "OK"

8) click "Install application", click "Install PC Navigator", downloading starts

9) "Setup-PC Navigator 15" window comes up, then select "accept the agreement", installation starts and finish

10) setup window comes up, then click "Back", then click "Install map data" on setup window

11) select "Manage map downloads", then select the map in Free regions and a language

12) download starts and finish. Then close "setup window"

13) run "PC Navigator 15 FREE (default settings)" as admistrator

14) the error comes up

what my action is wrong in the above sequence????

If 'setup_pc_navigator.exe' doesn't work on another PC, IMHO the issue is with this file, or Windows (language version, etc.)

Try run this file on english Windows version, old Windows, etc., just to test this file, ... or delete it and download again (by install PC Navigator via 'Navigator15 Setup Utility'.

Hi! Przemek, 'setup_pc_navigator.exe' itself works on my two PCs, but i don't know it works correctly.

Problem may be that I don't have the files "default_settings.xml" or "settings.xml" anywhere.

I really want to know why I don't have them and how i can get them.

I tried installation and deletion of every file, then installation again and again.

My operations what i described on the latest report is wrong or not ?

This file should install default_settings and settings files on Your PC.

Try delete this file from Your PC and install NavigatorPC.

Try install NavigatorPC also on english Windows version, just for test.

As far as I remember, Your 'operations' is perfectly (I recommended programmers make it more simply - just one klick for all).

Hi, Przemek, how do i install the file "default_settings.xml"? I dont have the file "default_settings.xml", so i can not delete this file. I tried to install NavigatorPC many times, but I have never seen this file before.

Haru, please right klick on 'setup_pc_navigator.exe' and, from small menu, klik 'preferences'.
This file should be in version '15.0.2-1'.
Klik on this file twice (klik, klik) and allow run it (answer 'YES' for question 'Do You allow...').

Check all files in folder:'C:/ProgramFiles(x86)/Navigator15/PC_Navigator/config'
There should be 'default_settings.xml'.

tomas and Przemek, I followed your suggestion. I found "default_settings.xml" in "config" holder. Then I made a copy and renamed it to "settings.xml". I pasted "settings.xml" in c:\Users\"user"\AppData\Roaming\Navigator\15.x.

I run Navigator, but the results are the same.

My Navigator version is '15.0.2-1'.

'15.0' (with folders: config_backup and search_history and files: album.style, editor, favourites, navigator_xxxx.log, odometer, routing_points, settings.veh, settings, teleatlas.map, truck_restrictions)

and

'x.y' (with files: launcher, setup, trayutil).

Przemek, I should have so many files and folders, I didn't know it. I mentioned before, I have few files in there, so I made a copy of "settings.xml" and set it in folder '15.0'.

After setup operation, In folder c:\Users\"user"\AppData\Roaming\Navigator, I have :

'15.0' ( with folders: nothing and just one file: setup), then after Navigator run, navigator_xxxx.log is added. I added a copy of "settings.xml" at next run.

and

'x.y' (with files: launcher , trayutil), there is no 'setup'.

It looks like issue with installation (try create new user on Windows, or try Navigator on english Windows).
Maybe this files are created with the first appropriate start/run.

Przemek, I already have tried new user on one PC and another user on different Tablet PC many times, but results are the same. I don't know whether Japanese OS affects or not, though I use English name as user. I don't have English OS.

Maybe sb. from support can send You all extracted files from folders: ProgramFiles(x86), ProgramData, Roaming/Navigator. It could help, if the issue is with installation.
