keeping the special characters in a .csv file
  • Hi.
I don't know whether a solution for the problem has been already posted (I didn't go through the entire forum), but I think it can do no harm doing it again if that's the case.
So, file created in Excel, saved as .csv with no encoding options available. Open the .csv file with NotePad, click File, click Save as, from Encoding drop-down list select UTF-8, from Save as type drop-down list select All files, then click Save. Done, now you have a new .csv file UTF-8 encoded and the special characters will be displayed correctly when you upload the .csv file into the Free Navigator, tested for the German special characters.
