Customization of lines and areas

Hi all.
Today I started customizing album.style to create a custom rendering style. Everything is pretty much self explanatory, except for the style parameter of lines and areas. I have seen used V, C, L and R. Through a little bit of trial-and-error I have understood 5 out of 6 parameters for L (line) and 1 each for V and C, but for the remainder I have no clue at all. Is there any documentation about these values?
