GPS Track Recording - Frequency ?

    I had my Garmin GPS62S and my mobile with Navigator record the same hike
    (about 3 km and 1 hour hike)

    My Garmin recorded 252 points which sufficed to record the tour sufficiently well.
    On the other hand, Navigator recorded 4301 points for exactly the same track.

    How can one adjust the frequency of recording track points?
