Hi,

I'd like to use Navigator Free on Windows 8.1 32bit Tablet.

I installed PC Navigator 14 Free and OSM on the tablet.

But, I can not start PC Navigator 14 Free because of error , "Settings files not found. Application will exit now."

I checked the folder PC Navigator installed. There are 3 setting files , "settings.dtd","settings.veh","settings.xml". in config folder.

What can I do for using PC Navigator 14 Free.

Navigator is looking for settings.xml or default_settings.xml if settings.xml cannot be found
try to reinstall

Just a question: where do I find the settings file of the Android version?

Thank you for your comment. Settings.xml is in config folder. I tried to reinstall tow times, but same result. Any way I will try to reinstall in another condition.

"Data root: E:\??\Navigator" ... the "??" looks strange ... is it some special character? Or do you have there question marks in the path?

I assume it has to do with non-latin characters or non UTF-8 characters

Thank you for your advice.

I use Japanese IME.

I changed the folder name with latin characters.

I checked navigator.log file and fined out character changes in atlas_pcn.idc and atlas_pcn_free.idc.

Navigator safely move when I repaired character changes in atlas_pcn.idc and atlas_pcn_free.idc.

Hi, Miura. I am Japanese and facing the same? or similar problem. I try to install Navigator Free on Windows 8.1.

I got the same error message "Settings files not found. Application will exit now." Have you solved the problem?

In my case, I don't use Japanese name folder. I use the folder name "14.1" which appears under Navigator folder.

It is highlighted when I set "Refer Folders", so I choose it. Is this wrong? Should I set my original folder name?

I posted my problem as "PC Navigator 14 Installation" which describes what I did.

I tried to show my setup log, but I could not because too long. If you need, I show it at my next post.

I appreciate if you help.
