Routing Problem

On a journey from Lucerne in Switzerland to Tuscany in Italy I was routed through Milan rather than around the A50 ring road. Any ideas why?

That's strange. I checked data in OSM and found out that A50 is gathered completely new in April 2014 with maxspeed=90.see for example: https://www.openstreetmap.org/way/273837535I drowe there some years ago and cant remember that speed limit, which could be the reason.edit:looking Google Street View it seems to be ok:

I got contact to an italian mapper in that area to fix it. -
Tomas, exact departure was Ibis hotel on Kellerstrasse Luzern Switzerland & arrival point was Via Marcena 197, Caprese Michelangelo, Arezzo, Italy. I've added A50 as a waypoint for return journey just in case.

I would say that speed attributes in free maps are incorrect or missing
with TomTom maps route is around Milan

I got no answer from Italy until now. But we need local knowlegde to fix that. Quick and dirty it can be helpfull to block the usage of the roads through Milano.

I hope you only mean to block it inside Navigator and not in OSM?
If you don't mean that then please don't block it in OSM. What for all those people who need to use those routes in Milano.
Next to that: If the streets are not blocked "in real life", then don't block it in OSM. That is really corrupting the map data.

the speed limit is correct, 90km/h (all of the Tangenziale has that) ...

Its still the same: no answer :-(
But until the missing speedlimits through the town are not fixed, there will be no good solution for better routing. -
Thanks for all your replies & suggestions. Using the A50 as a waypoint solved the problem on the way back. The speed limit for the A50 is 90km/h as stated above.

Latest news:I got information from Italy. The "inner" city ring has maxspeed of 50 km/h. The incoming/outgoing roads have maxspeed between 50 and 100 km/h.I'll fix OSM-data as far as i have credible informations. So next download and map-update end of September should route arround Milano on A50.
Edit:
There's a part of the inner ring in the north with maxspeed=70. It was mapped with it correctly in OSM and I left it that way.
