GPS stops working after standby

I have a SmartGPS SG320 with Windows CE and Navigator FREE installed. This device has a "standby" button. However, when I put it into standby mode when Navigator FREE is running GPS reception does not work any longer after exiting from standby mode. GPS Time is freezed and position updates are no longer received. To recover from this I have to disable and enable GPS in Navigator FREE or restart application. Is there any possibility to detect such freezes and automatically restart GPS reception?
