Automatic night colours

My Android phone is set to automatic night mode. It starts with night colours, when in use the program at the nighttime. But it automatically switches back to day colours, when i have to use another program, phone for example.It is then quite difficult to force to night colours via the settings menu.Why not a fast toggle between day and night from the tools menu from the main page!?
