How do you delete a route on the PC version of Free Navigator?

I assume you want to delete a saved route - Menu/My Routes

No, it's not for a saved route.

I would like to know how to delete the route that is currently in use.

I am not sure that I understand your question, but you can simply delete routing points and set new departure/destination/waypoint

The quickest way to delete current route is select

Menu

Routing Points

Delete

All current routing points are deleted

I figured
that out but the program crashes each time I do it.

Sounds like i need to make a reinstall of the software.

I think you're correct to try a reinstall.

I don't have any problem when I delete a route
