If you want to speed up your simulation I have found a simple but effective way to do it.

I set up a new vehicle called " Simulation Mode" based on the Car settings. I then change all the speed settings to 100 mph and unticked the box "Keep to speed limits" for each road type . Get the route you wish to simulate , set the vehicle to "Simulation mode" and then run the simulation.Thats it.

It gets me a simulation speed of 93 mph on all roads ( I think this must be the program limit.). Some of my simulations finish in half the time it normally takes.
