External SD card not found

M'y Samsung galaxy under Android 4.3 has one internal SD card named sdcard and one external SD card as emmc. In order to install data on the external SD, in advanced settings, thé item "Change sd card installation" gives thé error message :"Cannot change installation SD card. System appears to have only one SD card." What is thé name of external SD used by FormFactor navigator ?

Don't these paths apply anymore to Android 4.3? If they don't:
If you can also find the mentioned file on your device, I'd try to change the path there.

No, the path ext_card doesn't work ; I also have been trying others paths as "external_sd" or "sd-ext" but those have failed. I am using the command "mount -o bind ....." to link the path with the external SD.Is there a MF guy to give the good external path for Android version Thanks in advance...

close Navigator and delete data in Android settings/application
manager/Navigator - then reboot your phone. If this does not help,
please email logs (navigator/log folder).

Delete data in Android settings/application manager/Navigator, then reboot doesn't fix the problem.

I had the same issue on my Android 4.3.1. Deleted app data and rebooted. Issue fixed for me.
(I did get a lot of "Navigator has stopped" when re-adding/downloading the maps.)

Same issue, using CyanogenMod 11 (4.4.2) on Galaxy S3, the external SD-Card is not detected. Any official fix? thanks

Google has made some big changes in KitKat to SD card access. I am not a programmer so I can't comment on the technicalities. See this post on Andriod Police:-

According to the post google seem to be moving towards eliminating the use of external storage altogether.

First, congratulation for the great job of Navfactor.
As "maxxer", I recently pass my phone on CyanogenMod 11 (CM11) but Navigator does not find the external sdcard
Under CM11, now the external sdcard is fully accessible and its path is /storage/sdcard1.
I think it is not a problem of sd swap: navigator is installed on internal memory.
But Navigator does not find any external card to access to moved data (maps, favourites,...). In other words, the option setup/advanced/install to SD card "move the data..." (not the program) does not work.
This feature is great when changing the phone: keeping his external sdcard containing a heavy navigator folder.
Please could you correct/add an update/fix ?

Also, I cannot understand: browsing my CM11 with ES explorer, I can read /mnt/external_sd and /external_sd that are copies of /storage/sdcard1. Thus, Navigator should find the external sdcard, no ?

mkdir /sdcard/external_sd
mount -o bind /storage/sdcard1 /sdcard/extSdCardbut did not fix the problem... Message of Navfactor is still the same "The system seems to have only one sdcard" (internal)

I got a fixed version from a developer of navigator:

but it's still don't work on my Sony Xperia SP
So i can't move files to my sd card -
close Navigator and delete data in Android settings/application
manager/Navigator - then reboot your phone. If this does not help,
please email logs (navigator/log folder).

franc : the "apk" link is in fact a zip file. To be install in recovery ?
As touko810, this installation in recovery does not resolve the problem. I am surprised to read version in settings/about: still 1.1.5, not 1.2.4 as seems by the zip file name
I did the tomas advice. That does not help...

@touko810 - Android APK files are in reality ZIP files, and some web browsers "decides" to change their extension :( ... just rename it back to ".apk" and it should work.

Indeed, from my home computer, the name of the dowloaded file has "zip" extension when I click the apk link of franc.
From my computer at work, the extension is apk when I click the same link.
Thus, I understand that my installation in recovery was wrong and that navigator did not update !
Both are win7, one is home and the other professionnal
Now, my navigator is updated to 1.2.4 and I close/delete data/reboot. But that did not fix the problem : message "Impossible to modify the installation path. The system seems to have only one sdcard."

Same problem here (Samsung S3, CM11). I have both /storage/sdcard0 & /storage/sdcard1 and /mnt/sdcard & /mnt/extSdCard but still got error "Cannot change installation SD card. System appears to have only one SD card) (in czech). I tried 1.2.4 version and got same error.

I have the same problem with Cyanogenmod 10.2 and 11 on my Samsung Galaxy Ace II. Version 1.2.4 did not fix this issue.

Same problem after upgrading to KitKat (Note 3). On JellyBean it worked flawlessly.

Yup, found this meanwhile too. So there is still possibility for MapFactor to keep at least downloaded maps on external SD card - just in Android/data/com.<MapFactor> folder.

This is effecting me too on a Samsung galaxy S4 after upgrading to Stock 4.4 KitKat. So I am looking forward to a fix and would be happy to try out a beta version. The version posted earlier in the thread by franc did not fix the issue in case it was supposed to.

is now pointing to 1.2.18+, which should solve the issue with read-only access to navigator directory. If you still have problem please let us know.

This version does not solve the problem on my Galaxy S4 with stock KitKat. :-( I cannot save maps on the external sd card, but I don't want to save 2GB of map data in the internal memory. I tried do uninstall, reinstall, delete app data, restart and so on.

Congratulations, you did it !
Version 1.2.19 recognizes the external sdcard (/storage/sdcard1) of my Cyanogenmod 11. Navigator moved "navigator" folder to it, giving back a large free space on the internal memory.

Okay, here is what I did:
- Uninstalled Navigator.
- Rebooted Phone
- Installed version 1.2.19.
- Immediatly moved it to SD-Card
- Opened App
- Downloaded a small map (Albania)
- The map is definetly saved in the internal memory in the folder Android/data/com.mapfactor.navigator/files/navigator/data
- Opened Navigator Settings --> Advanced --> Change installation SD-Card, but there ist still the message "Cannot change installation SD-Card. System appears to have only one SD-Card."
But that is definetly not true. On the external SD-Card there is another "Android" folder with lots of other applications data, e.g. evernote, facebook, youtube etc.
What have I done wrong?
PS: The external SD-Card is called extSdCard on my device.

@toniclife - you did it correctly. Can you please go to settings/advanced/debug level, change it to high, exit navigator and start it again and then send us your log files?

p.s. log files are in folder navigator/logs, but this time the path is more complicated: /Android/data/com.mapfactor.navigator/files/navigator

I just got report from Gerald, that 1.2.19 started to work once he switched advanced/settings/debug to high level ... that would mean bug in our code, but I wonder if it would help toniclife ...

I might be able to confirm the issue with the advanced/settings/debug on stock galaxy S4.After installing 1.2.19 navigator still complained about only finding one SD card. Immediately after setting debug to high, it still didn't find the sd card. But once I restarted navigator I could now see the secondary external SD card and was able to move the data.

On a rooted phone I installed the app "FolderMount".Using this, all my navigator maps are now on ext.SD-Card and everything works fine.The navigator app is via link2sd as well at ext.SD-Card at 2nd. partition.Gerd

I have the same problem with the external SD card - Navigator does not see it and data cannot be moved to this card. My phone is Cube1 with KitKat (4.4.2) - pure android should be there without changes. I have read the discussion and it looks that the issue has been solved but the navigator (1.3.43) on my phone really cannot read and write to the external card. I have tried to reinstalled it but it does not solve the problem. I am only able to move the navigator to the internal sd card.
Can anybody help me?

Mám stejný problém s externí SD kartou na telefonu Acer Liquid Z330 s Androidem 5.1.1.
Smazání dat, reboot telefonu a znovu načtení map nepomohlo.

To fix External SD card not detected by Android phone you can follow the below mentioned solution:
