No street address searching and buggy search autofill

So, I just installed and am trying to use the search function in the California. Using the search option, I can't seem to enter the address of the location. Am I missing something? I can enter the state, city, and street, but no prompt for address number. Not sure if that option is not available or I don't have the setting correct. Also, the autofill on the search keeps cycling through incorrect cities/streets. Really buggy, I really wanted to like this thing.

Hi rbrown,
when street numbers are available in the map data then you can search
for it, for example New York/Manhattan/5th Avenue.
Unfortunately house numbers are frequently missing in free maps, but are
available in TomTom maps.
Free maps are created by volunteers at www.openstreetmaps.org - anybody
can join and help to make maps better using their local knowledge.
May be you can also contribute?
I do not understand what do you mean by "cycling through incorrect cities/streets" - please explain.
