Sound through phone speaker when connected to Bluetooth

    I know this has been asked a few times before but what are the correct settings to get verbal instructions through my phone speaker when connected to my cars bluetooth?
    I get verbal instructions when streaming music through bluetooth but not at any other times.
    Google maps navigator does it natively so it must be possible.
