Sound through phone speaker when connected to Bluetooth

I know this has been asked a few times before but what are the correct settings to get verbal instructions through my phone speaker when connected to my cars bluetooth?I get verbal instructions when streaming music through bluetooth but not at any other times.Google maps navigator does it natively so it must be possible.
