Navigator free on Mappy ITI E411
  • Hi Guys,
    thanks to the tuto to install Navigator free on a Michelin GPS in succeed to install it (V19.3.1) on my Mappy ITI E411.
    Everything looks OK except that It can't see any satellites and after a few minutes I have an error message "GPS time out. try to reconfigure?".
    I answer yes and it unsucccessfull scan the comport in order to find the gps HW.
    I had a look into the mappy GPS directory and found a file named SYS.TXT with the following inside
    [GPS]
    port=7
    band=38400

    looking as wanted parameters.
    But I don't know how to setup this into navigator as the manual setup menu is showing only portcom 1, 2, 3 (so faaar from 7).
    Who can tell me how to change the comport to 7 if navigator is supporting this?

    Thanks

  • you can edit settings.xml file, section GPS TMC
  • Hello
    thanks for the answer.
    I found a default_settings.xml file in the same directory as the navigator exe
    I change COM1 settings for the following
      <GPSTMC>
        <gps>
          <device>
            <type>com</type>
            <com>
              <port>COM7</port>
              <speed>38400</speed>
              <friendly_name>COM7</friendly_name>
            </com>

    but no change it is still listing Com1, 2, 3 and that's it
  • why would you go to settings, when it is already set by editing file?
    if it is com7 38400, then it should work without changing settings

    to be honest, com 7, 38400 sounds a little suspicious, these devices usually use com1 or com2, 4800 or 9600
    may be somebody else has experience?

  • Hi Tomas,
    I was looking the settings because I can't have a GPS fix.
    I had a look into the navigator directory and found log files. Here an abstract of the latest one.
    First line is making me thinking "ok despite the fix missing seems to work" but I can't unserstand why after a few time it tries severals comport and speeds...
    For the values I used it was written in a file in the directory of the original gps software (see my first post)

  • this means that GPS was not found at these com ports/baud rates

    I would search internet for correct setting, you need exact model number to do that
  • hum strange as comport & speed were inside a sys file in previous sw. For the moment I can't find the info in the internet but other mappy GPS used same comport and baud rate.
  • may be it is com7, 38400, I have no idea
    it could be problem with something else

Howdy, Stranger!
