can I load maps onto external sd card bearing in mind google new policy of not allowing apps to write to ext sd card. or do I have to download maps to internal card.

Also if I upgrade to kitkat will present installation work or do I have to re download

yes am aware of the new google policy. 3rd party apps can still write to ext sd card BUT they can only write within their own application folder and not to any folder on sd card as they could previously. app developer has to intergrate this new policy permission in app update.

this means that if you delete app all data connected to that app will be deleted as well. this should not be a big deal for navigator as any data generated is really only for use of navigator and not to be used by other apps anyway.

I have not yet downloaded kitkat. am weighing up my options with regard to all my apps access to write externally. dont want a phone full of broken apps till developers have caught up. also dont want to root phone just yet . this would solve problem with ext sd card by being able to modify media write permission.
