Downloading maps

SO I downloaded and installed the app. Then it says, "No maps. Add maps." Ok, but then it says, "You are about to download large data files over a mobile network. This can be expensive. Using a wi-fi connection is preferable. Continue nonetheless?"
BUT THERE IS NO INDICATION OF HOW TO USE WI-FI. My wi-fi IS active, but this app apparently doesn't see it.
Then I decided to just download over mobile (overnight). The maps didn't download.
Is it me?

Hi Barry,
if wifi is active, then Navigator will not give you message you received.
Check wifi connection in Android settings.
you can also download maps using our PC version:
http://navigatorfree.mapfactor.com/
once maps are downloaded, copy them to your device, navigator/data folder.
