Have I just damaged the Forum?

Hi,
on my netbook occasionally, when I move the mouse pointer too soon after a click, additional clicks happen on their own.
One of those clicks just raised the number of Votes in Android FAQ by one.
A bit to the right I then found a menu with "Option: Dismiss".
Hoping that this would dismiss my accidental vote, I clicked on it - and the whole thread vanished!
...hopefully only from MY screen!?
What is the function of the Dismiss item?
