kommercial or free Maps - differences

Hello, what is the difference between the kommercial and the free maps? Are the kommercials much better?
Are the kommercial maps running on the free navigator? Is it possible to get a demo or to see what they look like?
especialy i am interestet in the south african map.

in general, commercial maps have better routing attributes and therefore routes are more accurate and realistic. However, coverage can be better in free or commercial maps, it depends on country.
Navigator software is the same for both maps.
