4,000 miles in Europe in four weeks all on mapfactor - excellent though somethings need attention.
"(4) I have purchased add-ons for multiple routing. Users should be aware of the obvious - it takes three times longer to calculate routes so in my case from York to Malaga in Southern Spain took nearly five minutes. At first I thought somethi…

strings.xml is not in the navigator folder. It is in the internal apk structure. An apk is nothing more then a zip file (just like a java jar file by the way). If you unzip the apk you will find in res/values-fr the strings.xml.Most likely you can n…

The translations are maintained via crowdin. Register yourself and you can help translate MNF into your language. https://crowdin.com/project/mapfactor-gps-navigation Edit: I just visited it myself to look at Dutch and the project is suspended.

Show the GPS/UTC Time Offset and read it from the GPS signal.
The location object (from the location api) returns the UTC time (getTime()) in milliseconds (since January 1 1970).I assume MNF uses (can use) this as it is part of the "bulk data" (like latitude, longitude, altitude, bearing, etc), retri…

Why is this so important? Do you have a specific need?I don't mean this as criticism. I simply like to know.If you explain why you want it, maybe other users also think: That would be a nice feature (or not).

Edit MF3D file for E-Ink screen (gps_arrow.mf3d ??)
I did not mean this should be stopped. If the E-ink version fills a gap and users like it, although it could use some enhancements, then that's fine with me. I simply meant that I can understand MNF is not sharing all graphical data.

Please note that there is authorship by MNF on this. Although I do not appreciate all graphical changes lately, I do understand their standpoint. And as a comparison: You could also ask Microsoft if you were allowed to change some icon/art work in t…

I do no longer use my phone anymore in the car for navigation, but I always had it on a usb connector.A usb cable to some usb connector almost never is enough to keep the power up when using hardware render.Having the phone on the cigaret lighther w…

It never hurts to search the forum. Your question has already been answered more than 4-5 times. And if you can't find it directly in the forum, as the search is indeed pretty lousy, you can use Google. So using the LMGTFY: http://lmgtfy.com/?q=…

I'm currently updating my traffic_lights MCAs (see here).with the new 4.0.9 I do see them on the map in "view" mode, but I don't see them while simulating a navigation in hardware render. They are visible in software render in na…

Test of Android version 3.1.x
Another point is heat dissipation, and not only for the hardware render of MNF.I've seen applications use the GPU extensively which therefore gets quite hot. If they get (too) hot, the CPU speed is throttled down to lower frequencies. This also…

Problem searching hamlets / villages in Denmark
So it is clear that a node will always work, and that it's most often used also to mark the center of a city. However, it is weird that MNF only "recognizes" nodes and not areas.Theoretical discussions as to what is the best, almost n…

xml files are defined by the xml tags for that specific file. It doesn't make a difference whether it is all on one line or not, as long as the line is shorter than 32767 characters.Linux and windows use different line end schemes. Sometimes yo…

Follow position without following a route
"I think, poi warning apps as blitzer.de are doing just this. They do not need a navigation. It is sufficient just to come near to a given position and they give a warning." That is indeed the difference. If speedcameras are attributes of …

Follow position without following a route
I do not know of any app being able to do this and I have checked many. I suppose it simply has to do with plotting a GPS position on a map without navigation without even knowing which road we are on, simply a position, and navigating on a road wher…

Some explanation to this user? He obviously couldn't find it. Settings -> Advanced Settings -> Backup & Reset. (Question: is it also in the play store 3.0.125, or only in the betas?)

Exit Navigator (Android) Automatically When External Power is Removed?
Yes, you are right but that is indeed when the apk you want to stop has that kind of intent. There are more apks supporting that. But MNF doesn't have that intent and in that case android does not allow it and I know very few apks having such an…

This is simply not allowed in Android. One app is not allowed to close another app, not via intent and not via broadcast. So you do indeed need root to close another app.

@Delfin: Mapfactor doesn't "know" what the optimal route is. It simply calculates a route via the A* algorithm, meaning from departure and destination towards each other, cutting off paths sooner or later via the heuristic coefficient…

You mix up two things: recorded voices using media files, and TTS voices using texts to be spoken by the TTS engine. The latter will never work with VLC. The recorded voice are a "dead end".With TTS voices you will get (semi-natural) behvi…
