Test of Android version 1.4.x
Even with unrooted devices you can most of the time disable or "switch off" apps in your app settings. It will not uninstall them but they will not run anymore taking precious working memory.

It looks like the there is something wrong with the (multi)polygons describing water and land (natural=water or natural=costline)

You're right. What I meant to say/type is: "The only difficult part is whether you need to calculate...." but that's maybe because I'm used to kilometers. It doesn't matter of course whether you define a distance in kil…

Small local road
I agree with you. In the Netherlands we have a lot of 30km roads inside towns which are also tagged accordingly (unclassified). When I create routes inside towns I often get big detours, so I have them enabled as well.(small local roads 30/30/50).…

How do you "close" the program? If you close the program by just pressing the "back" button long enough to "close" Navigator, Navigator will continue running and will stay in memory. However, if you use the Close button …

save screen space - allow swipe to access main menu instead of taking up lots of space
That's because your (older?) phone is showing those buttons as soft buttons inside the screen. On my phone, and most modern phones, the buttons have become "hard" buttons on the phone itself in their own touch-sensitive area and no lon…

Maps don't show house numbers on less traveled streets (although they are mentionned on OSM maps)
No. It is not possible to recognize house numbers. Please note that the data origin is one big "database" of objects.Objects are "linked" together if they have common data. If there is no common data they can't be linked. So…

The number 28 is connected to a street. That address is entirely correct. The other addresses are wrong. I just added street and city to the other houses. Please check them in www.openstreetmap.org. Create an ID and then you can edit in either ID or …

Can you give an example? To be able to check how these housenumbers are added to OSM?

I will not share that apk. That one doesn't run anyway as the signing is not correct anymore. What I meant with the succesful "recompilation/rebuilt" is that the strings.xml and arrays.xml are correct. Otherwise the apk could not be …

By the way: in that first post I mentioned the free open source weblate system (https://weblate.org). You can set it up for QT linguist as well, even though your arrays.xml are currently not wel supported.Check https://docs.weblate.org/en/latest/for…

I know QT linguist. I already thought that the dictionary**.qmm files were "compiled" files. Never the less I think you can still use the strings.xml. Will you use them? I have no intention whatsoever to pirate the mapfactor navigator buil…

:) Believe me Tomas, they are vector maps: Before I made the switch to MNF I was very deep into the the OBF maps being the "father" of a couple of special maps and maps that are now generally used. I wrote quite some wiki articles about it…

No, OsmAnd is not using raster maps. OsmAnd is using vector maps in OsmAnd .obf format, but it can use raster maps. OsmAnd maps are the most detailed ones of all OSM based navigation apps/maps. That's at the same time the big disadvantage. OsmA…

Filenames of vehicle types
Human errors and confusion. If you create "something" in one platform version and want to use it in the other platform version, you need to rename it (for me that is theoretically. I don't have or use windows).

I assume you mean: More details means slower redrawing. Exactly as JambaFee mentions: "While the level of map-details during 3D-navigation is absolutely perfect for me, it isn’t in 2D-mode".I agree a full 100% with him. During navigation i…

I agree with JambaFee.Also in his example: If I calculate a route from Rejmyre to Finspång I see a purple line on the map for the route, which is fine, but that's also the only thing I see. When you are in map view the map is in 2D. When I zoom…
