cannot search for town in norway but it exists in osm
I completely overlooked the missing boundary=administrative. I saw the way around Bjørkelangen and was so convinced that that one also contained the boundary that I did not even check. Added the boundary now.

UK Maps
That is not entirely correct. This early spring I asked why the Dutch map was already 3 months behind while all other maps, including UK, were up to date. It obviously sometimes happens.

I did not go for a line by line compare, but I just did a simple grep "" for every language and on the generated list a wc -l to count the lines. en: 124 nl: 126 de: 130 So maybe some texts are missing but it seems that both Dutch and Ger…

And related to my own request w.r.t. the road references: - you have roads with only names (mostly in towns) - roads with names and numbers (references) like primary roads through or around towns, or primary/secondary roads connecting towns - mot…

Good idea to make this a separate topic. 1. My places I can't confirm the behaviour you mention. For me it simply works (Android 4.2.2 800x480, in case resolution is of concern) 2. Text to speech One thing (for me) right now are the pauses b…

Maybe you have to configure it also in your Android system settings (sprache & eingabe -> text in sprache ausgabe). You can select wich tts module to use and on the right side you have the settings. and maybe you need to reboot. I'm us…

Great to hear that tts is in beta (for Android). Any information when it might be available? or for testing?

Hi, 1. This is really a question of taste. For me the interface is very simple and easy. Most of the time you like the interface you are used to. Since 2004 I have used tomtom, iGo and Navigon and a few built-in apps. All were good, but for all it t…

OSM Map dates?
My UK map is of 201406 and I do see Campbeltown road instead of goldenberry Road. However, I can see that a01020304 has edited the road an hour ago (twice), 7 hours ago (twice), 2 months ago (twice), 3 months ago, 4 months ago and 1 year ago. And be…

I'm using Navigator Free and another navigation app, and the other app also calculates the route simply and completely over the 93.

Navigation quirk - major tourist road not found in Canada
If you are sure you can drive there in the period you will visit the region, but you don't know about the local conditions, I would simply create a waypoint/destination/favourite 100 meters (or so) in advance of the gate. And after the gate cre…

Adding an arbitrary waypoint for route?
Yes, you can create a departure/waypoint/destination by tapping on the map. If you do (and it might take 2 or 3 attempts) you will see a small square appearing and sometimes selection of a road part. Then you will see at the top of your screen icons…

Navigation quirk - major tourist road not found in Canada
It has nothing to do with a small road or so. It's a primary road. OSM mentions that there is a gate at this location on highway 93. A gate is a barrier (http://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/Tag:barrier=gate) and that's why Navigator leads …

up-to-date database? (Android)
According to the map date the speed cameras are from February 2013. That is not very up-to-date. Is that map date correct? If so it is indeed better to make your own speed cam file.

Routing Problem

Yes, but that is not what he is "saying". Navigator might do it correctly when directly typing it in, but not when importing it from another application.

Check whether your SD card is seen by your file manager. Really check the contents of your SDcard folders as Android immediately creates default folders on in internal memory if your SDcard is corrupt, which means that it only looks like your SDcard…

Note that the GPX format has 3 sub-standards: track, waypoint and route. If Navigator could read a route file and/or a waypoint file to use the points as waypoints for a route it would be excellent. A route or waypoint file "normally" cont…

cannot search for town in norway but it exists in osm
In this case it has not to do with the ø. Bjørkelangen is part of Aurskog-Høland. I can find that. When I search for streets in Bjørkelangen using Aurskog-Høland, like the Rådhusveien or Markveien I do find them. The reason is probably that Bjørkel…

Mapfactor sometimes has problems with UTF-8 (or not, not clear to me yet) characters like ø. You can't even find Købnhavn or Copenhagen or whatever in the danish map. At least not with my settings. I have seen this more often.
