One way to save space would be to hide the soft buttons:- back, home and recent after say 5 seconds. Touching navigators 'menu' button would bring them back.

Thomas you have not read through my post. That is exactly what I am complaining about. To get back to the menu you have to PRESS THE BACK BUTTON 10 TIMES, if you save the search in my places there is no other way back to the main menu.

alternative route
I also have a navigon navigator. It also suggests 3 routes one is always a 'scenic' route that avoids motorways and travels the smaller roads. Sounds like a good idea. (Fastest, shortest and scenic).

You can also delete way points on the map. Just pick them and the pop down menu on the top will show the white flag with a cross on it pick it to delete.

Go to settings scroll down to advanced pick data download type and pick direct instead of torrent. If you are in Europe best time to download or update maps is in the morning seems to be less traffic.
