Route Simulation
Set departure point first and set destination (via search or tap on the map and selecting the relevant point). Go to main menu, there tools, then "Simulate route".

I have no crash for the route from the screenshot. As with @tomas there is no route found starting before the roundabout (why not found?). Latest UK OSM maps, latest beta of Navigator, Galaxy Tab4 8.

@tomas You should consider to create such a map. French Polynesia has nearly 300000 inhabitants and 200000 tourists a year. But no map. Kiribati has 100000 inhabitants and 6000 tourists a year and you have a map for them! ;-)

Change the starting point
If you just want to calculate a route starting from a different point than you are, use tools from the main menu, then calculate (ie not the navigate button from the main menu!).

When navigating with MFN it is not obligatory to set start. You may just select target and choose "Navigate" and MFB will navigate from the place you are. That reduces the steps you mention above by a number of 9...

I got it! This is a special setting of my phone called "text with high contrast, experimental". Certainely I had switched that on one day, experimentally ;-) . It is now switched off and I have the colored text as it should be.
