Now with every update there are new things that don't work:

1. rather funny: speed limit 255 on "Autobahnen" with no speed-limit (ist not an OSM-Problem - its nearly on every Autobahn with no limit)
2. The navigation voice stopps "talking" after a few minutes (this is definitely due to the latest version - I installed an older one, so it works, then the newest one, then it doesn't work again)
3. Lethal navigation instructions. Here, too, the error lies in the app and not in the OSM data, as this behavior occurs on almost ALL runs with this design. I have already deactivated "turn" in the vehicle profile. Still the same
4. Suddenly "way-signs" (what do you call the signs with the city names on them?) are no longer displayed. I also didn't find a point in the settings.

https://ibb.co/ngsBsB3
https://ibb.co/wNhFKtK
https://ibb.co/0f0nDjp

Hello

first of all many thanks and congratulations for your app! I have been using NAVIGATOR FREE on ANDROID phone since 2014 and now i have vers. 3.0.125.

My question is: suppose you are not navigating but just moving random. Is it possible to see in real time on the map the route you are following? I remember that in old versions you could see your journey on the map as a series of dots while you were moving...I saw there's a recording gpx/nmea function inside Preferites but that's not quite the same thing, you have to save file, then reopen it...you can't really see in real time.

Besides personally I don't think having the altimeter in the main screen while navigating is so useful: given that I need glasses to read I'd much rather exclude altimeter and having the time to arrival number in a much larger font size.

Many thanks

I really like the new color scheme editor. Thank you for implementing it.
It is a first version though and can use some enhancements.

Therefore some feature requests:

Color selection: currently you can only select a color from the standard android color selection tool. It would be very nice if you could also enter hex values for colors like cbcbcb (or #cbcbcb), like they are used in the Windows Map Editor. This makes it way more accurate to pick a color.

Import scheme: currently you can only export a color scheme. It would be great to be able to import a scheme. This would enable it for other users to "non-destructively" try each others schemes but also to do that for yourself (in case you change your phone; have to downgrade (thereby losing all settings). And finally: If a user comes up with a great new scheme it can easily be implemented into one of the standard schemes of MNF.

(low priority): Explain patterns: I have no idea how the pattern creation works (I'm not really font of patterns, hence for me low priority).

I like that I can store favourite places in the Android app. However, I am missing a function to import/export all (or a set of) favourites.

I can export a single favourite, yes. But your documentation (the pdf) is wrong on how this goes, it says "Your email client will open with a new message and a GPX attachment". No, it is an http google maps link.
Manually adding or exporting favourites one-by-one is too tedious.

In the Android app I did find your favourites.xml file where they are stored. However, I cannot make sense of the coordinates used in that file, e.g.
<item name="DAV Darmstadt Lichtwiesenweg" lat="179500992" lon="31227296"/>
How do these coordinates translate to the usual geocoordinates, for above example s.th. like lat=49.861385 lon=8.67429 ?

I would appreciate to know that translation (and think it is worth adding this info to the pdf documentation), then I could help myself.
Thanks & regards
Gery

I recently purchased a Eonon 7" head unit with navigation for my '2000 528i. The head unit came with the Kudos navigation and maps on the sd card, but I wasn't liking it. So I went to the MapFactor website and selected the link for Navigator Free using my laptop. I ran the setup program and followed all the instructions and installed to my formatted micro sd card, then again following the instructions, I downloaded the Florida maps. Piece of cake.

Without any file manipulation whatsoever, I just powered up the head unit, selected the navigation path under settings, inserted the new sd card with Navigator, and it showed up on the list. I went thru the basic setup for the gps and it located the receiver automattically. Then I started Navigator and it loaded and worked without a hitch, except for the small "back" button and my fat finger conflict as noted in my previous post. It I can get that resolved, I'll be looking at purchasing their truck software for my service business. Kudos to MapFactor (no pun intended).

Hello forum people

MNF Version 1.5.22 from Google Playstore
New Zealand OSM
Huawei U8652 Android 2.3.4

I wanted an offline turn by turn navigator so decided to try MNF because of general popularity Also forum discussions suggested pretty reasonable maturity
Even with my rubbish phone it has not crashed, the display looks good and recorded directions are near enough to find my destination (but Google Navigator with street names is much better if you have the data connection)

But - I have consistently found poor route selection in the city and suburban areas With Profile set to Car/Fastest each time MNF sends me on an indirect route which is longer and slower than the obvious route The direct route can sometimes (but not always) be obtained by using one or more waypoints or using Car/Shortest Sometimes Reverse does the trick but directions are then no good! Restrictions such as One way and No turn are not the problem

Example #1 Inner city (0.7 km direct route)
Selection 1A Fastest (1.3km 1min 32s)

Selection 1A Shortest (1.0km 1min 13s)
Selection 1B Fastest with one waypoint (1.0km 1min 17 s)
Selection 1B Shortest with same waypoint (0.7 km 0min 57s) Finally but what a mission!

Example #2 Suburban (2.5 km out and back circuit route using waypoints)

Selection 2A Fastest two waypoints (3.2km 4min 02s)

Selection 2B Fastest three waypoints (3.0km 3min 50s)
Trial of 2A and 2B Shortest profiles did no better
Selection 2B Reverse (2.5km 3min 17s)

The "Fastest" selections clearly do not give the quickest route so I assume the detailed Car speed profiles are not the problem

If interested see other screenshots in the album on the link below - not sure when/if access expires Sorry forgot to reduce file size

https://imageshack.com/a/PxW4/1

These are just two examples of what I have found to be persistent bad selections of a similar type It seems that if there are multiple options (very common with urban local routing) then MNF just does one selection and spits out the answer without any optimising checks

Long distance routes are generally OK but the urban sections of these often have the same trouble as above

Have tried Google Navigator on same routes and did not have the problem Even OruxMaps with BRouter offline gave me the direct routes (but no turn by turn directions)

Do other users have a similar experience or is there something I'm missing?
