Hi,

I have a short question about the general function of HD-traffic.

Will it also work over a VPN-connection, that hides my geo informations of the internet connection?

...or better, does HD-traffic uses my position from the GPS-receiver to decide for whhich region it sould show the traffic information?

I've used MapFactor with TomTom truck maps (and OSM ones) for some years now. However increasingly I'm finding I'm places where I'm "off the map" as far as TomTom maps are concerned. It bothers me that I'm paying a premium price for a service that seems somewhat indifferent. I'm a motorhomer hence the use of truck maps - restriction aware. But I'm considering cancelling my subscription. A couple of months back I was in the south of France going around an obviously established industrial estate which was on the map at all. I'd be interested to know if others have had issues and whether there are sensible alternatives

Unexplained behaviour

I am using Navigator 7.1.44 on a Samsung Galaxy Tab A running Android 7.1.1.

Sometimes when I navigate a route the green button in the lower right hand corner of the screen first shows a compass rose with the letter 'N' rather than the navigate arrow. When I press this it changes to the word 'MODE'. Navigation still works after a fashion but the current location does not stay in the centre of the screen. Also the compass bar at the top of the screen is absent.

Please can someone explain what is happening and how to revert to 'proper' navigation.

POI file limit

For an upcoming 6-week trip, I have created 45 .mca files of various POI items using diggerQT. When I import them into MPN Free (Android), not all of them show up in the POI listing. By removing some POI files, some files that previously did not show in the POI listing do then appear.

Is there a limit to the number of POI files that can be imported into MPN Free?

I could reduce the number of POI files by combining several files. For example, supermarkets are in separate files to have the appropriate icon show up for each supermarket chain. While one can have different icons for individual POIs in one .mca file, one can change the icon for a POI point only individually in diggerQT. That is very tedious and time consuming to do for a file that contains several hundred POIs.

Is there a way to change the icon for POI points as a group in diggerQT or by some other method?

Import POI in MapFactor Android

I have 13.000 personal POI divided in 6 file (in KML, CSV, GPX file format).

It's a eazy system to import them in MapFactor.

I remenber very difficult using mca files etc.

Navigator Android crashes when I start it

Hi all,

I have a Sony Xperia xz1 compact (Android 9) since the last map update (I think) the Navigaort crashes when I start the the app. I already reinstalled the latest version, download the maps several time.

In a few cases it shows that maps are damaged and asks to delete these maps. When I click OK, crashes after deleting these maps.

When I tried to start the app after deleting the demaged maps it tries to check the map data, then it shows "data is ok" after I click "OK" it crashes again.

What can I do to get back a working Navigator on my phone?

Add multiple places to create a route.

I'm taking a long drive soon and have identified 18 stops. I'd like to select all 18 of them and simultaneously add them to create a route. All I can do is add them individually. Which means a lot of poking on the screen to change menus. Am I missing something?

I have a new (used) Pixel 3a. Its my first "unrooted" Android.

I cant find the "data-Folder" for the Mapdata. The 3a has only an internal storage.

In /storage/emulated/0/android/data/com.mapfactor.navigator/files is nothing:

Claims about HD-Traffic informstions

Near my home are two freeway junction closed, but only one is shown in HD-Traffic (it's in Germany, Pinneberg at the A23. junction "Pinneberg-Sued" is closed and shown in the map, "Pinneberg-Mitte" is also closed bur not shown)

How to change voices

Just installed Navigator on a generic WinCE GPS, and quite impressed with it so far. One problem I have found is a lack of different voices. For English, it seems there is only a synthetic male voice. I would prefer female, and natural recorded voice if possible. Also, when I set up the speed limit warnings, it complains "object data file for scout functions missing", but I have no idea what that means or how to fix it. Grateful for some hints.

Recovering files on SD card

Yesterday a few minutes after using navigator I noticed that I didn't access the SD card one the phone (Moto Android).

I've no idea what caused it, not blaming Navigator.

I had to copy the card contents to Ubuntu and reformat the card, then reformat it on the phone and then copy the files back from Ubuntu.

Great. The card is recovered but Navigator now thinks it's using the maps and other data from the internal phone storage.

If I try changing to the SD card in settings then it wants to overwrite the SD card files and I think I will lose all my favourites and have to download the maps again.

Is there any way to edit the settings files so that I can switch back to the original SD storage without losing anything ?

Hi to all,

I have just received the information that the navigator does not have a working auto-zoom while navigating with or in 2D maps.

Can someone recommend an Android app that can do everything the Mapfactor Navigator can (for exaple own vehicle profiles, HD traffic, offline maps (OSM), route suggestions, GPX import, etc.), but with a working one Auto-zoom in 2D map display / navigation?
The app and its services do not have to be free either, I am willing to pay for a good app if it does what I want. ;)

I think the lack of 2D auto zoom and the constant hints to the manual zoom bar at the display by the MF-support are simply negligent and dangerous. I don't want to have to constantly adjust the size of the maps by hand while I'm driving. - Since that distracts at least as much as typing around on the phone (which I don't do either).

I would be very happy about tips from you.

What's wrong with The Woolwich Ferry?

I will be travelling from Cambridge to Crystal Palace and normally cross the Thames on the Woolwich Ferry. However the both the latest TomTom maps and OSM on Android absolutely refuse to route via this ferry despite there being a ferry shown on the map

Coordinates of the two sides are: North side: N 51.497758, E 0.060046 and South side : N 51.495171, E 0.061605.

The vehicle road preferences are set for boat ferry (as are every other type).

This ferry has been running for in its current form since 1965 and carries all sizes of freight FOC. So it is hardly a new service.

What is the problem?

Can someone let me know how the Speed Restrictions work on Vehicle Profiles? I can set speeds but there is also a toggle to "Use speed restrictions".

Does this mean that if I set a speed of 50mph but the road can do 60mph, the estimated arrival time works on 50 and not 60? Also if I switch off this option and set a max of 50mph but the road is only a 30mph, does the estimated time work on 50 and not 30?

Renaming importet POI group

Hi,

I exported a few POIs from POIBase and then imported the mca file into my navigator. This basically works without any errors.
When I search for POIs, I get "Imports" at the end of the category list, but when I click on it, only POIs are displayed. No matter how I name the mca file.
How can I not create my own categories in the imported POIs?
It makes little sense if all our own POIs appear in one list. Especially for those who import a lot of their own POIs.
How and where can I rename the "POIs" in the "Imported" category?

I use Navigator on a windows 2 in 1 tablet with win10. It has been giving me hardware problems and I need to replace it.

It seems like more users are using android.

What would be the benefit of me replacing my windows with a android tablet.

I only use this tablet for navigating, so I am only interested in what the deference might be between the windows and android version of Navigator.

I am currently looking at a use Samsung Galaxy Tab s5e, if that makes a difference.

I have never used anything android, Windows computer and apple phones.

I work a whole day to config my new Smartphone, but i have 0% made. What is this for a bad Technology? I am finished.

In Windows is this Problem solved, i make Full System Backups and if i make a System Upgrade i just move the SSD and install the new drivers... Windows can always keeping all settings and Android hiding the settings now completely? What do the devs think sometimes?

Hello there,

I would like to ask, if there is a specific hardware required to run the Navigator on a device with WIN CE - or on what hardware it's not running.

To the background of my question: There is a wide range of cars equipped with the device "Media Nav Evolution" - mostly Renault and Dacia. And I'm wondering if it's possible to use this nice peace of software in these cars.

Anyone who got some experiences?
