Hey Navigator-Team,

Thank you very much for the new feature that shows the nearest petrol stations along the route in the navigation system.

If I haven't overlooked this setting, I would suggest adding an option in the settings where you can select which types of fuel (diesel, 95, 98, 102 octane, LPG and natural gas) must be sold at the petrol stations shown and how far away from the route the petrol stations shown may be.
Especially for LPG and natural gas drivers, but also for those who rely on 102 octane this feature would be extremely helpful, .

I think this would make the new feature PERFECT.

Missing some features in Android Auto

Is it planned to get the short commands in Android Auto?

Specially I am missing the point to skip the next waypoint and the function for closed ways.

Or is it available and I do not see?

And an additional question to navigate with Android auto, the buttons with + and -, what should normally happen at push? At my screen nothing happens.

Hi,

I perform Android app updates only once or twice a week (manually).

Today there were, amongst others, Navigator and Zoom to be updated. Navigator needed about 5 MB, Zoom about 150 MB (5GB free), and Zoom took LESS time than Navigator to update.

This makes me wonder what's happening "under the bonnet" when Navigator is updated.

[I've installed maps for all those regions that I tend to visit - D, NL, B, F, southern GB, IRL; does THIS cost so much time? If so, WHY?]

Car and routing profiles

Hi,

I often prepare specific routes using the route converter so that I can later follow them using Mapfactor.
I usually set the waypoints so that navigating the shortest way will take me exactly at the way I want to go.

However, I am missing a ‘shortest route’ routing setting, where MF always selects the shortest route between the waypoints.
With the current routing settings, I cannot get MF to offer only one route. There are always alternative routes displayed.

On my old Navigon, I always had the right route with the settings: ‘Shortest route’, avoid residential streets, no motorways.

Perhaps three (additional) general route options for the shortest, optimal and fastest routes in conjunction with specific exclusions of road types (e.g. motorways, residential streets, gravel roads, footpaths, etc.) would be a good idea to simplify the routing settings in MF ?

When will you finally introduce a practical auto-zoom function in 2D mode?

I only use 2D mode, regardless of whether I have just opened the map or whether navigation is running. I have auto-zoom turned on and it works to some extent during navigation, meaning that the size of the map section is adjusted depending on the speed... but especially at low speeds, the map is not zoomed in far enough and it often happens that you miss an exit because you can't see which one to follow.I use an 8‘ tablet for navigation and can't imagine what it would be like on a 5’ or 6" smartphone.

I would like to be able to adjust the auto zoom factor to my needs in several stages across all speed ranges (e.g. maximum/large/medium/small/minimum auto zoom factor).

...and please don't come back with the ‘manual zoom’ argument. It distracts from driving and it's simply dangerous to change the zoom factor while driving.

Waypoints in Route Info

Hi Navigator-Team,

we used some prepared routes, imported as GPX files last weekend and we found two things that could be very helpful for this kind of using Navigator.

1. Saving the automatical unchecked waypoints in Route Info, so that the navigation to the next point can be started easy after a crash or restart of the smartphone/tablet or the app.
In one case we had to uncheck a lot of waypoint by hand to go on with the planned route.

2. While navigating with an imported route, it would be very, very helpful to have a button with a "skip the next waypoint" function. Now, in case of missing one waypoint or when there is a diversion due to roadworks you have to go back to Route Info, uncheck the next waypoint and start the navigation again. It would be much better, if the App offers also an additional "skip button" in the command line after tapping at the map.

Voice recognition search

I have recently tried to start navigation by using the Android auto voice recognition to enter a destination.

It accepts the input and suggests locations but Mapfactor never starts to navigate.

The directions box appears in the top left of the map screen with the spinning icon but the details never appear and the voice instructions never start.

Navigator fails to launch completely

With the latest Navigator update, the app fails to launch properly about half of the times that I tap on its icon on the phone's home screen. The initial splash screen appears, but the spinner and 'checking for purchases' do not. I have to go back to the home screen and tap on the icon again, sometimes multiple times. Pixel 6a running latest version of Android 14.

Cameras

I have been using the Navigator App for navigation for some time now. Can not recall every seeing the cameras files showing a update available for download. Are the cameras being update with the map updates? If so why a separate download? I do have a camera file from another forum that I can not share with others. A small sample of comparison shows the MapFactor Navigator files need some major updates. New cameras coming out all the time. The other forum I am on updates them weekly to just keep up. It would be nice if we could add our personal camera files with alerts or have some timely updates .

Visibility of maps of Europe - what minimum version of Mapfactor ?

Moving Favourites into folders

I've noticed in release 7.3.48 I cannot move favourites into a folder.

They can be moved up and down the list but will not drop into any folder.

Hi,
Currently, you can move a favorite into a folder by pressing and holding the name of the favorite and moving it to the folder.
This works well if you have few folders, but when you have 5 folders, the favorites go to any folder because it does not stay during the whole move.
A click on the favorites opens a menu and it would be nice to add "Move to a folder"
Yesterday I had to edit my Favourites.xml file to manually move a favorite to the correct folder, this is not ideal.

In the south of France, Navigator wanted us to take a motorway exit several times, only to lead us back onto the motorway immediately afterwards. We had already experienced this behaviour in Germany.

HD-Traffic is not working

At the weekend we travelled through the Bern region. Navigator didn't change to an alternative route despite the traffic jam. However, the car sat nav displayed an alternative route, as the normal route would have taken about 1 hour longer due to the traffic jam.

I've also had this behaviour several times in the Zurich region and at the Gubrist Tunnel.

Navigator crash when off route

Yesterday I started a journey but had to loop back to get fuel. Navigator (Android on Android auto) just showed the rotating "whirlygig". Even after stopping and restarting the car it didn't recover and I had to exit the route and ask it to calculate again.

It's has done this for years (many versions) but doesn't happen every time. It seems to be if you depart from the navigated route such as for stops on long journeys or to get fuel locally before proceeding.

Creating route with multiple waypoints is cumbersome

I often create a route with 10 - 25 waypoints using entries in one or more POI files. The use case is making a route for a day of bicycling where I need to follow designated bike routes rather than just the fastest route. The sequence of steps to add each point is presently cumbersome.

1. Go to main screen on app

2. Select 'Search imports'

3. Scroll down POI list and select desired POI file

4. Scroll down list of POI points and select desired point

5. Select 'Set as waypoint'

6. Swipe from left to get to map

7. Swipe from left to get to main screen

8. Repeat steps 2 - 7 for each waypoint

Imagine doing that for adding 25 waypoints to a route. Then, imagine doing that for daily routes on a 7-day bike trip.

It would be very helpful to be able to select multiple POIs from a POI file and have them added to the route at one time. Then in the 'Route info' screen, one can rearrange the waypoint ordering as desired.

Since I label the bike route points in the POI file with a date and sequence number, having the default ordering of the POIs added to the route follow normal alpha-numeric ordering would greatly reduce the re-ordering needed in the 'Route info' screen.

Add camera warning sounds to backup/restore.

I had, keyword had, customized warning sounds for speed cameras. With the upgrade to a new phone, and Android version, I've lost the ability to put my sounds in. The files were com.mapfactor.navigator/files/navigator/warningsounds/scout_100 (plus 500 and 1000). Now the directory is hidden.

I would ask that you add the files to the backup file, then I can off load that file, replace the *.wav files, upload the backup file and do a restore with it.

Possibility to remove waypoints in Android Auto

It would be helpful to be able to remove a (missed) waypoint from the current route in Android Auto. If this is already possible, I have missed the trick and would be thankful for tips on how to do that. The current procedure which is (at least for me) required to remove a waypoint while navigating is the following:

disconnect the mobile from Android Auto
remove the waypoint (unchecking is not sufficient!) from the route
reconnect the mobile to Android Auto and
restart the navigation

This procedure is by no means doable without co-driver or parking the car.

Hi,
I finally upgraded from Android 7.1 to a new phone with Android 13 two weeks ago, and in the next few days tried out my 250+ apps one by one.

Navigator told me about a licence problem - "cause is frequently a new Android version" and asked if I wanted to solve the problem, which I did.
I was told there should be a solution within 24 hours.

I waited two days, started Navigator, same message.

Since then I have been starting Navigator once a day - always the same message (to which I always reply, re-sending my email address as required by the second message, after I tapped on "Yes").

What's going on?
