How do I receive traffic information on an Android tablet?

My previous question asking for information fell completely flat!I realise that this is a 'paid for' service and I am OK with that. However I do not know how the data is downloaded. My Samsung Galaxy Tab A does not have facility for a SIM as previously Navigator worked completely offline. Do I need any additional hardware or does the feature expect a mobile connection. Could I use my phone and tether to the tablet with WiFi?I would welcome any advice.BTW I did watch the MapFactor video which showed the feature working but did not explain how.Thanks in advance

mifi router could be a solution in car. Wifi to tablet.
